Cornell University
Ph.D. Candidate
Brooklyn, NY
Constanza Salazar, Ph.D. is a Canadian art historian and writer based in New York City. Her research focuses on how artists since the 1990s have responded with criticism to advanced technologies like biotechnology, the internet, surveillance, and more recently, artificial intelligence. Artists employ several tactics for uncovering the inherent biases in algorithmic technologies as well as use performance, hacktivism, robotics, and installation art to resist the technophilia centered in contemporary society. Constanza also holds an M.A. in Art History and Visual Culture from the University of Guelph and a B.F.A from the University of Waterloo. She has presented papers internationally on new materialism, post-humanism, and new media.
