Andrea Ngan (she/her) is a design strategist, researcher, facilitator, and media artist. Her practices nurture community-led social change initiatives. For over 12 years, Andrea has passionately organized community-based art and social justice programs serving youth. She is the director and co-organizer of Creative Resilience Collective, Creative Resilient Youth, and Design Justice Network’s Philadelphia Node. As a founding team member of the City of Philadelphia’s Service Design Studio, she is currently co-leading the development and implementation of a citywide Equitable Community Engagement Toolkit to transform how the City repairs relationships and collaborates with Philadelphians. In addition to her community-based design work, she serves as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design. She regularly facilitates workshops on topics related to design justice, co-design, youth leadership, collectivism, community engagement, mental health, health justice, and ways to build and share power. Prior to her work in Philadelphia, Andrea designed interactive experiences and produced media for cultural organizations, museums, and public spaces. Some of her past projects include the 9/11 Memorial Museum, Project XQ: The Super School Project, City Pulse at One World Trade Observatory, and the Equal Justice Initiative Museum.
